One of the benefits of my daily practice of yoga & mindfulness (aside from reducing anxiety & deepening self-awareness) has been reconnecting with nature. As Eckhart Tolle says, "allow nature to teach you stillness." I'm happiest rediscovering my natural calm in the woods! I also run workshops designed to deepen this connection.
My practice is also an opportunity to reflect on the worsening Climate Crisis. Eco-anxiety (among other emotions) is increasingly common as we come to terms with our uncertain future. My own experience in this area is motivating me to reflect on how I can use my skills to support others.
I donate 5% of earnings from my yoga classes to Tree Sisters; a wonderful organisation who are committed to reforesting the Tropics. Reforestation, especially in tropical regions, is a highly effective way rebalancing carbon levels in the atmosphere & decreasing the rate of climate change. The organisation also supports the local communities where their projects take place, among many other useful projects.
Breathe Calm Yoga students have already planted nearly 400 trees!
