ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Amy McMillan & I've been teaching in Surrey & online since 2012. I use mindfulness-based approaches to guide & support you as you rediscover your natural ease & vitality.

My integrative body-mind training enables me to nurture your emotional health as you reconnect with yourself and beyond.

I specialise in cultivating self-compassion & reconnecting to your body's natural intelligence through nervous system support.

My Approach & Training

I have a compassionate, down to earth & whole-hearted approach. With over 1000 hours of training in mind-body approaches, a background in education and over 12 years of teaching experience, I bring a wealth of experience to my work.

I trained to teach mindfulness through Mindfulness UK's Level 4 accredited course. This training emphasized the transformative practice of cultivating self-compassion.  I value creating safe, supportive and authentic spaces, having deepened my skills through study with expert relational mindfulness teacher Deborah Eden Tull. I'm also a certified transpersonal coach and trained in core counselling skills.

My Yoga Teacher Training was in a particularly mindful style, and over the years I've explored other mindful, somatic approaches to functional movement, delving into the innate wisdom and healing capacity of our bodies. This includes training in the nervous system and polyvagal theory - reducing stress and building resilience by supporting the body's natural ability to regulate and heal. These elements are reflected in my teaching style.

As an eternal student, I am committed to deepening my own practice which informs my teaching. I adhere to high ethical mindfulness & coaching standards, I maintain a well-established daily practice, attend regular supervision sessions, and participate in retreats, workshops and courses, ensuring a continual journey of growth and learning that informs my work.

My Story

I turned to mindfulness and yoga as a lifeline about 16 years ago, while navigating the loss of my mum and the challenges of being a primary teacher. These transformative practices have been my anchor through life's various changes, including relocating across the world and becoming a parent. As a sensitive soul who is prone to overthinking, my daily practice continues to offer vital support and deepening insights.

My personal journey involves exploring healing and growth through modalities like psychotherapy, somatic work, and transpersonal approaches, leading to a continual deepening of self-awareness. I am a certified transpersonal coach and trained in deep listening which enhances my ability to support you on an individual basis.

I have a passion for relational mindfulness — reconnecting with ourselves, others, and the world to contribute to collective change in these challenging times.  I am aware of the severity of the climate crisis and related crises, and I support various organizations advocating for collective change.

I hope to meet you soon!
