About Amy

Welcome! I'm Amy & I've been teaching in Surrey & online since 2012. I weave together my mindfulness & yoga skills to enable you to rediscover your natural calm & vitality.  I have a special interest in cultivating self-compassion & reconnecting to the body's natural intelligence through nervous system support.

I have a warm, inclusive teaching style & I'm able to adapt classes to your individual needs. In my mindful yoga classes, I offer modifications for all levels & encourage you to listen to your own body with kindness.

I trained to teach mindfulness with Mindfulness UK through their foundation degree level teaching course. A key element of this course was the transformative practice of developing self compassion.  I love creating safe, supportive spaces & I'm currently working with with expert relational mindfulness teacher Deborah Eden Tull to deepen my space holding & deep listening skills.  I'm also an experienced primary teacher & am trained to deliver mindfulness in schools.

I completed yoga teacher training at the Yoga Institute Sydney. My teacher, Michael DeManincor, studied with TKV Desikachar - one of the most respected teachers of classical yoga. I have also spent years exploring other mindful, somatic approaches which encourage us to reconnect with the innate wisdom & healing capacity of the body.  This includes training in reducing stress & building resilience through neuroscience, the nervous system & polyvagal theory.  My teaching style reflects these elements.

I'm an eternal student, committed to deepening my own practice & I regularly attend workshops, courses & retreats.

I began practicing mindfulness & yoga about 14 years ago, to help me cope with the death of my mum & a stressful job as a primary teacher. These transformative practices continue to support me day by day.

I’m happiest in nature although this deep sense of connection is bittersweet, given the worsening Climate Crisis.  I have a passion for relational mindfulness; reconnecting with ourselves, others & the rest of nature to contribute to collective positive change.  Joanna Macy & her Work That Reconnects is a major influence.

I support various organisations which advocate for social, racial & environmental change.  Find out more here.

I hope to meet you soon!  Please contact me to find out more.

Mindfulness in Schools Project

"The classes are calm & uplifting. Amy is constantly aware of the specific needs of each individual in the class. She also encourages everyone to become aware of the needs of their own bodies & tailor their practice accordingly, making it as gentle or as challenging as they need. Highly recommended."
