I'm a PGCE qualified teacher with 10 years of experience in primary education. I offer the Mindfulness in Schools Project "Paws b" mindfulness course for 7 - 11 year olds.
The "Paws b" Course
This is a series of practical workshops delivered over 6 (or 12) weeks. We explore areas of the brain & how these affect our ability to focus & make good choices. We learn to recognise how to steady ourselves when our body or mind is busy or out of balance. We learn techniques that will support us in our day-to-day activities. We also learn how to improve concentration, memory & behavioural self-management.
The feedback from children who have taken part in the course is very positive. They report enjoying the lessons & find that the learning supports them in a broad range of situations; from being able to concentrate & focus more easily in lessons to feeling calmer in exams & competitions. Many have described sharing the learning with family members & finding that it helps them with their relationships with family & friends.
I have successfully taught this course to pupils of the Prep School at Guildford High School.
